HomePRACTICAL GUIDANCE

Preparing for an RPL conversation

Make your experience easier to assess.

Discuss your options

Map what you already do

Write down relevant roles, tasks and responsibilities. Identify examples that show the skills involved rather than relying only on the length of your experience.

Collect relevant records

Ask your assessor what evidence is acceptable. Previous study records, work examples and verified workplace evidence may be useful; protect confidential information.

Expect an assessment process

RPL requires evidence of competency. Additional assessment or gap training may be needed. Ask about costs and timelines before starting.
